Kenya-South Sudan road construction gets funding from World Bank

Garden City to build a hotel in Phase II

 Garden City one of East Africa’s largest mall has announced the construction of a new business park that will host a four star hotel.   The park will be developed on an additional 21 acres of land adjacent to the original 32 acre site that already hosts apartments and retail centres.   Michael Turner, Head of Actis Nairobi said that the new construction will also accommodate a hospital, green spaces and a pedestrian.... Kenya signs China nuclear power deal

 Kenya has signed a deal with China as part of the east African nation's plans to have a nuclear power station by 2025, the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB) said Thursday.   Kenya plans to set up its a first nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1000 MW by 2025, the board said, with ambitions to boost that to 4000 MW by 2033, and to make nuclear electricity "a key component of the country's energy".... Zimbabwe licenses US$250mn of solar power projects

Five solar power projects, valued at a total of US$250mn, have been licensed by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA). Solar-thermal plant launched in Uganda

One of the largest solar-thermal electricity producing plants in East Africa has been inaugurated in Uganda on Kalangala Island in Lake Victoria, as the region sets the pace in electricity generation investments.   The solar thermal plant, with full capacity at 1.6 MW, benefitting over 20,000 customers, is the largest in East Africa and has been constructed at a total cost of $17 million covering transmission and distribution.... Ethiopia-Djibouti railway line to start operations early 2016

WORLD BANK GRANTS SH 54 BILLION FOR KENYA-S.SUDAN FIBRE OPTIC AND SUPERHIGHWAY PROJECT
