Telecel launches new service

Zimbabwe's second largest mobile cellular company, Telecel has launched a new service, Mega Juice, which enables its subscribers to talk for a longer period of time. Mega Juice has been designed to provide much cheaper airtime to Telecel's prepaid subscribers.

The service allows Telecel subscribers to use a special one dollar air time card to talk to one another for three times as long as they can with an ordinary air time card.

In a statement to IT News Africa, Telecel said the Mega Juice card would cost US$1, but would give the subscriber two dollars bonus air time, meaning that for a single dollar one purchases three dollars worth of air time.

"It is intended for those who use their cell phones a lot or who enjoy talking a lot on their cell phone, but are currently inhibited from doing so by the cost. The Mega Juice air time is only valid for 24 hours from the time the air time is loaded", reads the statement, according to itnewsafrica.com.

Telecel further explains that calls from different network subscribers would not enjoy the same benefits as those enjoyed by Telecel-to-Telecel subscribers.

“Mobile phones should be easy to use at any time. It is difficult for prepaid subscribers to talk to one another freely on their cell phones at the moment, because of the cost involved.

We are therefore giving those who would want to make more use of their cell phones the opportunity to buy air time cards which will give them three times as much talking time as normal, so long as they are calling other people on the Telecel network".
